Purple Sage Municipal Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Caldwell, Idaho.
Purple Sage Municipal Golf Course opened for play in 1962. The course was designed by Vernon Macan.
Purple Sage has narrow fairways that require accurate tee shots. A hook or slice off any tee could easily land you in trouble. Water hazards (ponds and water-filled ditches) come into play on at least ten holes. In addition, most of the greens are protected by deep greenside sand bunkers.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,747 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,343 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 544 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 162 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 538 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Purple Sage is # 16, a 198 yard par-3.

We're passing through the Boise area and stopped to play several courses. This one was a pleasant surprise as I thought it wouldn't be much for this price. Flat layout, easy to walk, easy to play, but still challanging. Course was in great shape but the greens did show some damage from the tough winter. Highly recommended for a casual golf outing.
